I notice with some interest that IP strategist and blogger Duncan Bucknell started an IP strategists group on LinkedIn in early September, and it now has 46 members (as of today). I wonder, is this the beginning of moves that may lead to an international organisation of strategists as well as setting standards among IP strategists? Standard setting and accreditation in this field could be a good idea in the long term, though I think practically it is quite a ways off. But in the short term, it certainly is a good idea for strategists in intellectual property to start to regularly talk to each other.
In that vein, I also note that the 2009 IP Business Congress site is up. Last year’s event in Amsterdam was reportedly very good and had several speakers on strategy (as well as lots of networking), so I have high hopes (and plans to attend) the 2009 event. It will take place 21-23 of June in the windy city of Chicago.

Thanks Jordan – at this stage, anyone with an interest and something to say about IP Strategy is welcome to join the group.
