Our friend Ben Lehman of Think IP Strategy will be moderating a panel on
“Working together” on one of my favourite topics, open innovation on Tuesday. Ben kindly hosted me on a recent IPThinkTank podcast on Apple’s IP strategies, and I hope to catch up with him on the latest developments in all things Apple.

Via the nomination process, anyone in the global IP community can put forward a name to be considered by the IP Hall of Fame Academy, comprising all living IP Hall of Fame inductees and specially invited international IP thought-leaders.

The deadline is 2 December, with the 2010 inductees announced in February 2010 with a gala dinner at next year’s IP Business Conference in June, in Munich.

• why should we care about IP (varying importance for different types of companies)

One element that came out pretty strongly in both the questions and from the speakers was about the next steps, including Ben‘s suggestion that what may be needed to catalyse IP is a “database” of war stories about IP and its importance to businesses. So where do we go from here to put IP high on the list among businesses?

I think that another webinar would be a strong next step, and we’re looking into that possibility.  I’d like to even look into forming a more official group behind IP service providers with the mission of education about IP to the business community.
